Scientific Research
The material of the cultivating emotional balance training (CEB) has been tested scientifically in a study in 2012 published in the scientific journal EMOTION [2012 vol 12. No. 2 338-350] where the positive effects of significant decrease in depression, anxiety and hostility as well as lessening of emotional and psychological reactivity was found. Also, the material shared in CEB has been taught since the year 2002 to thousands of people who have expressed their satisfaction about the help that this material has brought to their lives.
Contemplative Component
The contemplative component is completely secular, and yet inspired by Buddhist practices for balancing the mind. Eastern contemplative traditions over the past 2,500 years have developed great insight into the nature and causes of dissatisfaction and internal distress. Contemplatives have developed a variety of practices for overcoming these causes that we explore in this course. Regardless of whether one is a theist, an atheist, a polytheist, a materialist, or agnostic there will be benefit in engaging with the core practices taught in CEB. The contemplative section of CEB has been inspired by the work of Dr. Alan Wallace. One of the first western student of the Dalai Lama, with more than 50 books, Dr. Alan Wallace is a renown scholar, author, translator and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism.

Psychological ComponentThe psychological component of CEB is drawn from the work of Paul Ekman, who is considered one of the most influential world experts on emotion. With this component one learns the basics about emotions and reactions, anger management strategies, anxiety, stress and burnout.
CoursesThe scientifically tested course consists of a 42 hour, 8 modules, course. We offer this course periodically throughout the year. For people interested in getting to know CEB we also offer an introduction-to-CEB-course where we explain the basic components and a few contemplative practices.

Emotions would not have been preserved in our evolution if they would have been harmful or destructive intrinsically. - Paul Ekman
Scientific and contemplative methods
Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) is an educational training committed to utilizing the experience of emotion as a path for developing the happiness of being for ourselves and in relationship to others.
|
By integrating the wisdom traditions of modern psychology, current emotion research, and contemplative practices, CEB provides a secular platform for transformation and for learning how to use our emotions in the most constructive way. CEB allows us to use and enjoy our emotions and put them at our service, and not to remain in service of our emotions.
